I have been remiss in posting the past few days because there is a lot going on here at casa t'pon... I have just recently caught my breath and will get back to posting with some regularity shortly. In the meantime, a recap...
Bean turned 6 months last week, Tuesday to be exact, and in the space of a single week he has:
- Cut two teeth (but I already mentioned that) which has resulted in N. and me hiring full time help just to mop up the drool that is filling every crevice of our home. If scientists ever find some incredible use for baby spit, we are sitting on a freaking goldmine.
- Fell off the couch onto his head and survived, relatively unscathed. Lets just say, there is a smidgen of relief having gotten that out of the way. Everyone says that it will happen and now that it has and I am over the guilt and he is totally fine, we can move on. And as N pointed out, I am still doing better than both of our mothers. N.'s mom, let him fall off a butcher block and he broke his collar bone. My mom, Chicken Little, dropped me backwards down the basement stairs. Comparatively speaking, I deserve a freaking medal.
- Started crawling... OH MAH GAWD, it is like overnight he went from manageable to mobile. Put him on the floor and he is off (albeit, he is easy to catch. I, mean, he is crawling like a drunk frat kid trying to reach the toilet). Put a remote control in front of him and he is a man with a mission.
- Pulled up in his crib... what the hell is this all about. I went to check in on him during a nap, he was making a HUGE fuss, and there he was... STANDING UP, holding onto the side of the crib. I must admit that he looked pretty confused. You could almost see the bubble above his head with a big "?" in it. Yes, exciting. But, now the crib has become some kind of romper room and Bean refuses to take a nap making for a very, very cranky teething, crawling, standing-up baby.
[Lamenting the loss of my baby blob, ah when life was easy...]
I have to admit though that I am very impressed with his progress thus far. I figure at this rate of development, he should be out of the house by this time next year... or at the very least he will have a job which means he can start paying some R-E-N-T. 'Cause shit ain't cheap... and this kid can eat.
Awwww.... how cute! Crawling at 6 months! He IS an early one. I am equally impressed. Mine didn't crawl till more like 8 or 9 months (see... can't even remember anymore without pulling out the baby books! And they are only 2 and 4!!)
Enjoy that cuddly little mess of drool of yours, that first year just WHIZZES by!!

The silver lining to this cloud is now you can teach him to kill tarantulas.

I love your post, I have a six month old as of the 8th and though he doesn't have any teeth yet we are full expecting one soon...maybe we could go in on a baby drool business adventure! Anyway, hope you are enjoying the chaos as much as me. Thanks for sharing!

Actually, shit is free. It's the diapers that are expensive!
